I hope my post finds you well, in the company of your Social Media family and friends. Tumblr and Pinterest told me to say hi for them. They’re so busy! So, hi? I read on Business Insider about your recent drop in users on Christmas Day, Oh darling… I’m so sorry. But I have to confess. I was one of them.
I’m writing to tell you that I’m concerned for your wellbeing. How are you holding up? Ever since your break up with Twitter, things haven’t been the same. You were such a star, and I was so proud of you. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m here for you, in spite of how little we (your users) figured in your decision to pull the plug on the blue bird. It was REALLY a big shock.
If it makes you feel better, I’m still using you. Let’s face it. Blood is thicker than tweets. So one has to accept your blind devotion to Facebook. We’ve all been there. When we depend on our parents, big decisions and independence just go out of the window. What can I say? I hope you reconsider Twitter, soon?
It would be tragic to see you fade away in the jungle of unsuccessful social networks. Look what happened to MySpace! JT has been trying to save its reputation ever since, but it is what it is… A joke. I’m not judging. I’m just saying, I think you’re better than that. Just put yourself together and leave behind those childish tantrums.
I wanted to post some pics, for you to see how well we’re doing on… Twitpic. But I didn’t want to rub it in. So, I really hope you get through this, with your dignity intact. You know how those Mashable and TechCrunch people are always ready to gossip. And what was that about you trying to sell our pictures? Who started that rumor? Awful!
Anyhow, I just wanted to give you a heads up. As you know, I’m a good friend, or I try to be, in spite of what people are saying about you. At least you haven’t lost all your credibility (yet). Airports and hotels around the world are still tweeting you. Huh. Who knew? But I have to say, even that one click is just too much these days, babe. Remember, it’s all about #InstaGratification.
